It was a fantastic event!

The Teen Business Summer School, 2016!

Our facilitators from  Naija Startups, So Kleen and OIAS were spectacular!

Are you 15 years old and you want to start a business?

I saw this very interesting response to a young man's question on quora. By the way if you don't know quora, you better check it out and get on it. There are so many things to learn there.

So the question was....I'm 15 and I want to be rich one day. I am interested in business and would like to learn more about it. Where should I start?

I love the response of Micheal S Compton the most and I want to share with more 15 year olds who are probably not on quora.
First. Turn off Facebook, video games, and the TV….and READ. Read magazines, online newspapers, motivational and self help books, biographies of successful people in all kinds of fields. Readers are leaders is a dumb saying…but its true. The more you read, the more successful you will be.
Second. The world is full of educated failures. Do something. Start a business. Not in the future. Not when you think you are ready. Start one today. Shovel driveways (if you live where it snows) Mow lawns. Do general yard cleanup. Go clean out peoples garages, find something to sell….something.

Third. Repeat. You will find things that dont work. Things that do. You WILL fail. So repeat and start over. The more you read, the more you try business, the more you will start to see opportunities, the more you will have the tools to start pursuing them and being successful.

Please if you are 15 (You can be 12 or 20 it doesn't matter), take this seriously!!!!! I don't know how else to say it but take this seriously!

The Greatest Risk in business is not lack of capital!

So the greatest risk in business is lack of capital! Yeah, you might have been expecting that but naah.

The greatest risk in business is doing nothing. Yes Nothing!

So you have an idea to create an app where people can learn how to fix simple things in the house. The name of the app is DIY. It seems like a good idea and then u keep thinking about it refining the idea in your mind. The thought of what is possible with the app and how much money it might generate on the long run seduces you.

You are not sure it will work but there are so many silly apps out there and you're like 'At least my app is adding value or will add value'. You know one guy or group of guys who can help you design an app but you brush it aside because you say 'shooting video will cost money o, how much is my salary?'
You buy an android phone and wonderful at the number of apps and making a mental note of your coming soon app.

Then you get married, attend your mother-in-law's 80th birthday and realize its been 35 years and there are 1,000,201 Do it yourself apps generating income for their owners and none is yours!

The next step to take now that you have not knacked 40(and if you have, all hope is not lost) is call that guy that does apps and ask for quotation or okay search for app developers around you use your bbm, instagram, Facebook, twitter platforms to ask if someone knows an app developer whom you can work with. Don't think of the money yet just take this first step.

See you at age 70!
